Britannica defines prodigy as “A child who, by about age 10, performs at the level of a highly trained adult in a particular sphere of activity or knowledge” and Smayan Anand a seven year old kid hailing from Jamshedpur is a perfect example for the term. Born to Dr Sushrut Anand and Dr Priyanka Sahay, he was always a very curious child and remarkably gifted, so it won’t be wrong to say that the apple doesn’t fall far from tree.
What’s three thousand sixty plus three thousand sixty? What’s the sum of twice the number of the previous answer? And what’s the sum of twice this answer? One might need calculator to find it but Smayan doesn’t. For him these kinds of mathematical calculations only require a few seconds. On being asked when did they realize that their child might be more than an intelligent kid, a prodigy Smayan parents recalled “From a very tender age of three four years, we observed that Smayan was a very keen observer. He also liked to play with numbers. While moving in lifts, he used to look at numbers and start adding them. This was quiet different.” He showed extraordinary intellectual potential early on. His inquisitive nature helped him to not just cram his lessons but to understand them. Watching, observing and learning from his surroundings and applying the things he learned to his studies on his own is what makes Smayan take interest in calculus and general awareness. As Brian Herbert said “The capacity to learn is a gift, ability to learn is a skill and the willingness to learn is a choice” and Smayan’s intrusive nature is the palpable corroboration that he loves learning.
Which is the largest country ? which is the smallest? Whats’s their population? What’s the Area of various countries like India, China, Brazil, Australia, Russia, and Canada? Tallest building or richest man? Its height ? his wealth? These kinds of information remains on the tip of fingers despite being such a young child Smayan’s General knowledge is outstanding. “Smayan is an inquisitive child. He likes to watch general awareness videos on various YouTube channels, and also likes to watch world geography and history, he keeps asking questions and likes to do calculations which are much higher than his level” shared Smayan’s mother.
Even though their professions require a lot of time from them, Smayan parents still manage to spend a considerable amount of time with their children. “Spend time with your kid, even if both the parents are working because the childhood will never return back. Soon they will grow and fly away for their own lives. Teach them to work hard and be truthful, give them lots of love, rest of the things will come around eventually” added Sushrut Anand.
Furthermore, Dr Priyanka shared that although people have high expectations from Smayan as he is born into the family of doctors, he is absolutely free to choose whichever carrier path that may interest him in the future. As the saying goes “Every child is a different kind of flower and altogether they make this world a beautiful garden” she takes special care that Smayan doesn’t feel pressured. When asked how do they ensure a normal childhood for Smayan as many a times the smart kids tend to isolate themselves from their peers as they are way ahead in things Sushrut replied “I don’t think so. He’s normal kid with that just a little extra interest in other subjects. We always treat him like any other parents would treat their child. He talks and plays with other kids of his age and is obsessed with football, he loves it a lot.”
Smayan is also a very friendly and interactive child when asked how he spent his time indoors during the pandemic the kid replied with a heartwarming smile “By playing indoor games with mom and dad and helping them in household chores, watching cartoons movies with my Dii (elder sister).” Smayan might be seven year and loves cartoon but his humble nature and the glitter in his eyes when he talks about his love for calculus, General knowledge and football won our hearts. Our team wishes Smayan a very bright and radiant future.
